The PAA supports and recognises any person who has achieved a Q.C.A. accredited course that carries a certificate in Coaching Angling to level 2 standards.
Any would-be coaches can apply to Pershore College Worcestershire by telephoning (Jean Baldwin) on 01386 551224 for up to date information.
Each course is over two residential weekends and will provide you with a lifetime addition to your professional skills portfolio. The Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Angling course involves a mixture of personal study and tutorial theory/practical sessions. You must be over 18 years old.
The qualification is composed of four mandatory units of study:-
- Unit 1 angling and coaching; principles and ethics;
- Unit 2 working with partners to develop angling;
- Unit 3 preparing angling coaching sessions;
- Unit 4 conducting angling coaching sessions.
This is a professional qualification, not an attendance course.
According to demand some regional coaching courses may be organised each year. A full course lasts for a total of seven days, normally separated into two segments and includes:
- Specialist tuition;
- First Aid Training;
- Child Protection Course;
- Logged one-to-one coaching during which the candidates abilities are assessed;
- Finally a short test in the coaches preferred angling discipline (coarse, game or sea) to assess their competence as an angler.
Provided you have the desire and drive to become a coach you should be able to achieve the above. You do not need to be an expert angler in order to qualify, all that is required is competence in your chosen discipline and a commitment and desire to teach others. If you have not already qualified as a coach you may want to contact Pershore College (Jean Baldwin) requesting course details using the address below:-

He fishes in the morning. He fishes in the night. He fishes in foul weather and when the sun is bright. He fishes, fishes, fishes, it's his only thing in life and all he ever catches ...... is HELL from his fed up wife.
Work is for those who can't fish.
