When you have found a coach, you will have questions to ask them but you will also need to tell them something about yourself. Use this check list to guide you:-
- Tell the coach your reasons for seeking them and what you are hoping to achieve from your lesson,
- Also, tell them whether you have fished before and what your skill or experience level is,
- Whether you want to catch a particular species,
- Do you have any disabilities? If so, tell the coach they need to know so they can tailor the session and location accordingly,
- Let the Coach guide you regarding the location of your lesson. They will know the best place for you to achieve your aims. However, if there is a place you would like to fish don't be afraid to suggest it,
- Ask your coach how long the session will be,
- Check if the coach can provide all the tackle for the lesson and if necessary what you will need to provide?
- Chech whether you will need to bring something appropriate to sit on,
- If you have your own tackle, check with the coach that it is appropriate for the tuition they will be providing,
- Ask your coach what clothing, boots, waterproofs, gloves etc. you will need to take. When they say stout footwear they don't mean trainers!
- Check with them what their fees will be and if there will be additional costs, such as day tickets, bait, etc.
- Depending on your age you may need an Environment Agency Angling Licence. Check with your chosen coach if you will require one if you haven't got one already.
- Depending on your age you may need parental permission and your Coach will need to confirm this.
