Mirror Carp Details - Cyprinus carpio General Living to a maximum age of 30 years. Rarely exceeds 100cm in length with a few fish over 30lbs. In the U.K a fish of over 40lbs is a rarity. The size and polished appearance of the scales of this Carp give them the appearance of having small mirrors over their bodies, hence the term "Mirror" Carp. Mirror Carp Methods and baits Carp can be caught on a variety of methods and baits. Fish upto 5lbs on waggler or pole with caster, maggot, sweetcorn, bread, meat or paste. For 5lb plus fish the Method or floating chum mixers or bread on 8 or10lb line with a 1 1/2 to 2lb test curve rod helps improve the chance of landing a fish. The largest specimens tend to be caught on hair rigged boilies with a buzzer set ups. Which as a method is rather specialised and can be both expensive and time consuming. |
